Blown Ornaments Class Using Glaskolben In this class, you will learn how to make beautiful and unique blown glass ornaments using Glaskolben pre-blown clear glass cylinders. Glaskolben are the perfect way to get into blown glass without having to learn how to pull points from glass tubes. You will begin by learning about the different types of glass used in blown glassmaking, the tools and equipment needed, and the basic safety precautions. Then, you will learn how to heat the Glaskolben in the flame of a torch to soften the glass. Once the glass is soft, you will learn how to blow into the Glaskolben to expand it and create different shapes. You will also learn how to add decorative elements to your ornaments, such as frit and stringers. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced glassmakers alike. All materials and equipment will be provided. What you will learn: The basics of blown glassmaking using Glaskolben How to safely heat and work with glass in a flame How to blow glass into different shapes How to add decorative elements to your ornaments What you will make: Up to 6 beautiful and unique blown glass ornaments to take home What to bring: Closed-toe shoes Long pants Long hair pulled back Safety glasses (if you have them) Duration: 2-1/2 hours Skill level: Beginner-friendly Must be 16 years old to take this class. All classes must be paid for in advanced. There will be NO REFUNDS. You may change the date of your class ONE TIME, with at least seven days notice. There are no make ups for missed classes.
