Service Description
Class Title: Artisan Glass Blowing: Hand-Crafted Aqua Globes Class Description: Discover the mesmerizing art of glassblowing in this hands-on workshop focused on creating functional, decorative Aqua Globes (watering bulbs). Perfect for plant lovers and aspiring artists, this class teaches you how to use Glaskolben—pre-formed, clear glass cylinders with built-in blowpipes—to craft professional-quality vessels. Unlike traditional furnace-based glassblowing, working with Glaskolben allows for a more accessible and intimate "lampworking" experience. You will learn to manipulate glass at a tabletop torch, transforming a simple tube into a stunning, colorful sphere that helps keep your houseplants perfectly hydrated. What You Will Learn: * Torch Safety & Fundamentals: Master the use of a Hot Head gas torch and understand basic glass expansion (COE) principles. * Color Application: Explore the "frit" technique by adding crushed colored glass inside your Glaskolben to create vibrant patterns, swirls, or gradients. * Mouth-Blowing Techniques: Practice the delicate balance of heat and air pressure needed to expand the glass into a uniform, symmetrical globe. * Shaping & Finishing: Learn how to maintain the long neck of the globe (crucial for watering) and how to properly anneal (cool) your glass to prevent cracking. Class Details: * Experience Level: No prior glassblowing experience required. * Materials Provided: All glass, tools, and safety gear are included in the registration fee. * Safety Requirements: Please wear closed-toe shoes and natural fiber clothing (like cotton). Long hair must be tied back. * What you will make: Up to 5 beautiful and unique blown glass Aqua Globes to take home Must be 16 years old to take this class. All classes must be paid for in advanced. There will be NO REFUNDS. You may change the date of your class ONE TIME, with at least seven days notice. There are no make ups for missed classes.
